Greg founded West Face in 2006 to pursue long-term deep-value investments. From 1998 to 2006, Greg managed a Canadian portfolio of distressed investments and special situations for Paloma Partners while at Enterprise Capital Management.
Previously, Greg was one of three partners in RBC Dominion Securities’ proprietary investment group, with a focus on distressed debt, convertible bonds, equities and derivatives from 1993 to 1998.
Greg has been a director of several portfolio companies, including Maple Leaf Foods Inc., the WIND Mobile holding company and ACE Aviation Holdings Inc.
Greg has a B.Com. in finance and a computer science background from the University of British Columbia. He is a Leslie Wong Fellow with the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation.
Principal and Co-Chief Investment Officer
Peter joined West Face in 2006 and, starting in 2002, worked with Greg Boland in his capacity as manager of a Canadian portfolio for Paloma Partners.
He has been a director of several companies, including SunOpta Inc.
Peter managed the proprietary trading group at BMO Nesbitt Burns from 1991 to 1999, investing in distressed debt, convertible bonds, equities and derivatives. Previously, Peter was with IFM Trading and related entities from 1984 to 1990, where he focused on high-yield bonds, bankruptcies and special situations.
Peter has a B.Com. from the University of Toronto and a M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Tom joined West Face in 2006 and has worked with Greg Boland since 2003.
He focuses on special situations and has experience in a variety of sectors, including telecom (particularly spectrum assets), food and consumer products.
He has been a director of several companies, including TerreStar Corp.
He was previously a Managing Director at Onex Corporation, Canada’s largest private equity firm, where he worked from 1995 to 2003. At Onex, Tom was involved in the execution and oversight of a number of investments in consumer goods, business services, energy infrastructure and health care.
Tom’s prior experience also includes the merchant banking group of CIBC and the middle-market acquisition financing unit of GE Capital. He holds a B.A. from Yale College and a M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Tony joined West Face in 2006, having previously been a Managing Director with Amaranth Advisors Canada from 2003 to 2006.
He focuses on high-yield and distressed debt, restructurings and privately negotiated financings. He has significant sector experience in energy and mining investments.
He served as a former director of portfolio company Mandalay Resources Corp.
Prior to Amaranth, Tony worked in the merchant banking group at CIBC World Markets and RBC Dominion Securities’ proprietary investment group.
Tony received a B.Com. in finance from the University of British Columbia and is a Leslie Wong Fellow with the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation.
